Laser engraving

We use state of the art CO2 Laser Engraving Machinery, with power ratings between 30 and 120 watts that can engrave on flat or curved surfaces. The laser engraving process uses an intense beam of light as the engraving tool, creating a permanent and highly detailed mark on most materials. Laser engraving produces a monotone or greyscale result depending on the material being engraved.

How are our products Laser Engraved?

Laser engraving is a process by which an intense beam of light vaporises the part of the material it hits, removing the material and leaving a permanent mark. Graphics and text are sent through from a graphic arts program(s) via a print driver to the laser. Each job is programmed with settings for speed, power and resolution which varies depending on the machine and substrate. The machine is loaded with the material and a focus is set to the engraving area giving the optimal distance for the laser beam to focus into the concentrated point required to mark the material.  The lens carriage moves rapidly backwards and forwards across the job while the laser fires in controlled bursts as it passes over the areas to be marked.

Materials and products suitable for Laser Engraving

Many materials can be engraved by a CO2 laser including anodized aluminium, acrylic awards, plastics, wood, glass awards and crystal awards.  Additionally many non-metallic materials can be cut by laser e.g. acrylic, plastics and soft wood.  Almost all of our products available online can be engraved by laser in one way or another.

Why is Laser Engraving FREE?

At AwardsandTrophies.com.au we believe you deserve the basics free of charge, so we include laser engraving as a standard with all trophies and awards.  Some other engraving/printing processes (such as Colour UV Printing and Rotary Engraving) we charge a little extra, to cover our additional costs compared to laser engraving as a base method.

Can I see an artwork proof?

Yes. If you are purchasing from our range of corporate awards (glass trophies, crystal trophies, acrylic awards, wall plaques and other recognition awards & corporate awards), we will email you artwork proofs for your approval before we engrave. The first 2 proofs are free but if you require more proofs after this the cost is $20 per additional proof. Generally we do not provide artwork proofs for products outside of our Corporate Awards range, however if you require this service please let us know and we can email these to you; a $20 proofing fee may apply.

Will the engraving last?

When marked with a laser, the material is permanently removed from the surface. This marking will remain for the life of the award unless mistreated.
